Usually metro stations (or at least in M4, which I commute with) have 3 elevators, but usually only two of them is working, making it look like the staircases Tevye is singing about in Fiddler on the roof ( www.youtube.com/watch?v=RBHZFY… ).
I don't know the reason behind it, if you do, you're more than welcome to enlighten me!
